A Matter Of Perspective

The city of Luxembourg commissioned an ephemeral artwork to hide the construction works of the Royal Hamilius building in the heart of Luxembourg-City in 2018. I took on the challenge to hide three large containers blocking the path from Rue Louvigny to Rue Aldringen.

My idea was to create an anamorphosis, a optical illusion of a giant bubble that seems to float between two buildings, entitled ‘A Matter Of Perspective’. Two of thee containers were covered in wood pannels and the top pannel had been cut into shape to emphasise the illusion. Standing in the middle of the nearest crossroad all of the shapes melted into one to form a perfect sphere. Once you moved away you could see the image distort and decompose into abstract shapes.
